Terry Dotson Named Truck Dealer of the Year

Terry Dotson, president, chairman and CEO of Prestonburg, Ky.-basedWorldwide Equipment Enterprises, Saturday was named the American Truck Dealers/Heavy Duty Trucking Truck Dealer of the Year.

"To remain both adaptive and proactive, I am constantly looking for inventive, new ways to better serve our customers and our employees," Dotson says. "In this age of instant gratification everything is better, cheaper, stronger, and faster. Our position is to provide a source of value."

New Locations in South Carolina
Two South Carolina locations were purchased by Worldwide Equipment this week. Both Kenworth truck dealerships in Columbia and Greenville opened Monday as Worldwide Equipment of South Carolina.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to do business in South Carolina,” Worldwide Equipment COO Scott Blevins said. “In addition to offering our existing customers a wider service area, we expect to make several new long-term partnerships to replicate the success that we’ve had in the surrounding states. With the quality of employees, products, and customers, there’s plenty of potential in these locations.” 

Existing staff will remain in place with few exceptions and additional positions are currently being advertised. “A few members of our existing staff with facilitate the transition to our network, but the additions we’ll be looking to make will be from the local areas in both cities,” Blevins said. 

In Columbia, formerly of Cherokee Kenworth’s leasing department Shawn Broadway has been named division manager. This location will offer new and used truck sales, parts and service support, finance, insurance and leasing. “I’m very excited about the opportunity to lead the Columbia location into a bright future. With the people we have in place, and the resources that Worldwide will offer, we are certain to be a force in the South Carolina trucking industry,” Broadway said. 

In Greenville, current operations manager Ken Wood will lead the division. Having been with the company for several years, Wood views the change in ownership as a positive business decision with plenty of room for growth. The Greenville location will also offer a full range of services with an additional leasing office in Piedmont.
